2018 Pickleball in the Park

All Programs are $2 members, $3 nonmembers

Operating Rules & Other Information
(scroll down for schedule)
1. The scheduled sessions at PVCC are possible as the result of an agreement between the CeVA Pickleball Club and PVCC. Under the terms of that agreement, the Club rents the 4 tennis courts (8 Pickleball courts) from PVCC and is responsible to PVCC for their use.  Anyone who plays on those courts must therefore pay the relevant fees. During our sessions, you cannot play on those courts (even if you bring your own equipment) without paying the fees.

2. Our announcements about play at PVCC will now let you know who is the person or persons in charge of collecting fees. Please make sure you are ready to pay that person as soon as you arrive to the courts, so that he/she does not have to track you down for payment. He/she will have something to collect the money in (like an envelope), and he/she will be available on the sidelines at the start of the session. If you show up late, that's fine, but make sure to find the Person in Charge and give them your money. Of course, if you don't know what the Person in Charge looks like, just ask someone to point them out for you.

3. You may wonder why we collect fees at all. The Club is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization, so we don't have to pay the Person in Charge or anyone else, and we don't have to pay out dividends to demanding shareholders. But we do have to pay facility rental fees. We also have to carry liability insurance. The pickleball nets and balls in use during the sessions belong to the Club; they are fairly durable, but they did cost money to buy in the first place, and they do wear out and require replacement over time. We have to make copies of the keys that open the equipment box, and we bought a lockbox in which to store an extra key. These are hardly expenditures along the lines of, say, Paul Manafort's haberdashery, but they are expenditures.

(Our fees in 2017 for sessions were $5, by the way, for both members and non-members. Those fees helped to fund a study of potential locations for permanent, dedicated pickleball courts in the area. That study is complete, so we lowered the fees for this summer. (Club members pay a lower fee because they pay Club dues. There are other benefits of Club membership. Click here for more info.))
