Event Lead:  Point of contact for this event is Sabrina Leahy ([email protected] or [email protected])

Description: Mixed Doubles Up & Down the River Tournament is for individual sign ups (up to 20 men and 20 women) who will be randomly paired as mixed doubles, then proceed up/down the [river] ladder (individually...new mixed partner each game) based on wins or losses. Points will be accumulated based on wins/losses on various courts in the ladder and the top men and top women (based on accrued points) will then compete in a single elimination bracket leading up to a final championship match. Minimum of 6 games will be played by all participants.

Location: Darden Towe Park - courts reserved by CEVA for the event.

Cost:  $25 per person (all proceeds go to Darden Towe Court Expansion Project)

DUPR Entered:  No

Level of Play:  Intermediate and Advanced. Recommended minimum skill level of 3.25. Similar skills levels will be grouped together to begin the ladder play.

Player Count:  Minimum of 8 men and 8 women and maximum 20 men and 20 women in each level for the event to go on.

Waitlist:  Will be available. Waitlisted players/teams will be notified.

Scoring: Each round, teams will play 1 game to 11, win by 1. First two "seeding round" games will be played for placement purposes only, not for points.

Format:  Players enter as individuals and are randomly partnered and placed to start (all mixed doubles). After each game, partners split and move up or down the courts depending on a win or loss and also earn or lose points based on their win or loss.
The event will begin with two "seeding round" games which will be used to seed players in starting positions on the ladder, and will not go toward the individual player's point total.
After initial seeding, 6-8 rounds are played and total points are accumulated by each individual. At the end of the rounds, the top male and top female players will compete in a single elimination bracket.

Example court set up for 26 total players (13 women and 13 men):
Court 1 (top court) - Winning team stays and earns 4 points, losing team moves to Court 2 and earns 2 points.
Court 2 - Winning team moves to Court 1 and earns 3 points, losing team moves to Court 3 and earns 1 points.
Court 3 - Winning team moves to Court 2 and earns 2 points, losing team moves to Court 4 and earns 0 points.
Court 4 - Winning team moves to Court 3 and earns 1 point, losing team moves to Court 5 and earns -1 point.
Court 5 - Winning team moves to Court 4 and earns 1 point, losing team moves to Court 6 and earns -1 point.
Court 6 - Winning team moves to Court 5 and earns 1 point, losing team moves to Court 7 and earns -2 points.
Court 7 - Bye
